Distribution of Irrigation Acres 

At their meeting of December 19, 2018 the Western Irrigation District Board approved a distribution of 740 irrigation acres with a maximum of 130 irrigation acres allowed to be purchased by any economic unit during this sale process.

The details of the process including the bylaw, resolution and application form are included below: 

These acres will be distributed at a capital asset charge of $770 per acre which has been determined based on future infrastructure requirements of the District.

The following factors will be evaluated to prioritize the applications
-Conveyance efficiency

-Servicing Infrastructure

-Land Classification

-On-Farm System Efficiency

-Current irrigation activity on the parcel

-Expansion limit and the Determination

-Applicant as an Economic Unit and the members of the Economic Unit

-Irrigation Acres on the assessment roll in the name of the Applicant and Economic Unit

-Such further and other factors under the Irrigation Districts Act

You must apply by February 6, 2019 to be considered for this opportunity.

The WID is committed to ensuring our water license is utilized to its maximum potential for the benefit of our irrigators. As such, it is key that the acres to be distributed are not only utilized actively, but also efficiently. An irrigation system must be installed within two years of a successful application.
